We did it!

I am blogging to you from Lincoln Park! I decided that I would get out for a view hours today and enjoy the gorgeous, unusually early spring weather here in Chicago so I grabbed a Starbucks decaf (yeah still staying away from the strong stuff) and headed down to the lake front. It was gorgeous down there and I just sat by the water and got lost in the scenery. Once the coffee (okay, and yes the slice of pumpkin loaf) were finished, I decided to head to Lincoln Park with my magazine.  Most will not understand the importance of this act but The Husband will!  Since our first trip to The City, I have been in love with Lincoln Park. I have said probably a million times that one day I hoped to be able to live in Chicago, close enough to Lincoln Park that I could take a magazine and go sit in the park and just read.  No hurrying to get to our next destination because we were on vacation and had places to go and limited time. This one simple act of sitting in my park, aimlessly flipping through a magazine would mean that I had made dreams come true, no wait, that we had made dreams come true and were living where we truly wanted to be.  As I write these words, my eyes become a little teary.  Please don’t misunderstand, I miss my family and I miss my friends and I know The Husband feels the same way, but we have made it. We did it.

Okay, now I think it’s time to get back to flipping through this magazine…

One Week In

Sorry it’s been so long since I have updated!!  Life has been a bit hectic with the move and settling into our new place!  I did a few posts from my iPhone, but apparently it and WordPress does not get along as it did not post them and they are no where to be found.

So anyway, we are HERE and we are getting settled.  Only a few more things to do in the house and everything will be set.  The Husband seems to be enjoying working from home and I had a job interview today!  It was with a wonderful organization that is vibrant and energetic.  I hope it works out but I am also trying not to get too excited as I am sure they had several people they were interviewing.  I do feel that the interview went great and just getting the callback and interview means I must be doing something right!! 😉

Took a taxi to the interview and then road the bus, with a transfer, on the way home.  Even stopped and picked up dinner for me and The Husband!  I do believe I am getting the hang of this city life!!

Some Scary Stuff!!!

Today I:

  • Drove a total of 11 hours
  • Drove a 14ft moving truck
  • Drove through severe thunderstorms
  • Outran a tornado and baseball sized hail in said 14ft moving truck
  • Sat in the hallway in the dark as more thunderstorms, hail, andcloud rotation passed over the house
  • Search for our couch at 7 various Big Lots between here and GA
  • Bought said ouch before said tornado and baseball hail arrived in Chatt

See, I told you that was some scary stuff 😉

Goodnite folks!!

It’s getting closer!!

Well in less than two weeks we will be residents of the city of Chicago!!  I cannot believe it is almost time to move!  But I am so ready!!  I even applied for my first Chicago job today!!  Wonder what the chances are of landing the first job that I apply for 😉

Either way, bring it on, let’s do this!!  We are ready for you Chicago….question is…are you ready for US???

Finally!!!

Well, after many stressful days and many sleepless nights, the apartment search has come to an end!  We actually picked our place last week, but I didn’t want to get too excited until everything was official.  Well today Jill, aka Chicago BFF, called to let us know that everything was approved and the apartment is OURS!!  Crazy thing is I feel like I have looked at every available building in Chicago and we are in the very first building we wanted, but just thought we couldn’t get into.  But it all came full circle and as of March 1st, we have a beautiful 1 bedroom in a vintage building in the Gold Coast!!  Chicago here we come!!
